LI responds to LUHC Committee\’s call for evidence on public parks

Following on from the important 2016 Future of public parks inquiry, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee issued a short call for written evidence earlier this month on the future of parks and green spaces in England. The Landscape Institute was among 23 respondents to help steer the government’s priorities for public parks, answering:

  • How COVID-19 has affected parks and what central and local governments should prioritise during the recovery
  • How government initiatives such as pocket parks and the Levelling Up Fund have helped parks and green spaces, including bolstering access for disadvantaged groups
  • How effective the Parks Action Group has been and what its future role should be
  • How local authorities have engaged with communities about the planning, resourcing, and management of their parks and green spaces

See the LI’s full written response here.

Update: Friday 8 July

As of Friday 8 July, a full list of written evidence is now available at committees.parliament.uk. On 20 July, the Levelling Up Committee will hold an evidence session at Parliament to examine use and viability of and access to parks and green spaces.Find out more about the LI’s parks and green space policy work.
